INTRODUCTION TO SAILING
2 Hour On-The-Water Class
-No Experience Necessary-
Offered in cooperation with Sailing Florida Charters & Sailing School, Inc.
Participants will receive an insight into the world of sailing with this short but informative and interactive on-the-water class. Before getting underway, participants will get a safety briefing and be provided with life jackets. This will be followed by a walk though above decks, during which you will introduced to common nautical terms. A few demonstrations of line handling, boat awareness and physical stances will be shown before leaving the dock.
Once on the water the sails will be raised and participants will be coached on sail trim, crew movement and helming. Participants will then practice tacking and jibing while actively taking part in a discussion of sail propulsion and fluid dynamics. Everyone on board will be given the opportunity to helm and trim sails. Participants will be given the opportunity to relax and take it all in, however you should be prepared for some physical activity in this quick but educational experience.
The clinic is offered at 1:00pm on Thursday, and at 10:00am and at 1:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Your instructor will be a member of the award winning staff of Sailing Florida Charters & Sailing School, Inc. Each class is limited to 4 people. So sign up early to reserve your space.
