Sail America Welcomes Raul Bermudez as New Board Member

Sail America welcomes Raul Bermudez as a new Board member, replacing outgoing member Lex Raas, who recently resigned due to heavy future work-related commitments.

Bermudez joins other new Board members Stanton Murray, president of Murray Yacht Sales and Bill Mosher, sales and marketing director for Forespar Marine Products.

“Raul’s extensive international experience in sales and marketing will certainly be a strong asset to the Sail America Board,” said Jonathan Banks, Sail America executive director. “As we continue to execute our plans for future growth and development, it’s vital to build a Board that brings a wealth of business development, marketing and leadership expertise. Raul and all of our board members will definitely help us meet our future goals.”

Raul Bermudez is the vice president of sales and marketing for TUI Marine - North America and South Pacific. His duties include sales and marketing of Sunsail, The Moorings and Footloose in North America, South America and South Pacific, and worldwide yield management and fleet planning for all TUI Marine brands. In addition,
he now has the added responsibility for sales and marketing two new products in North America, “Sunsail Sailing Clubs” and “LeBoat,” a collection of European self-drive canal boat brands.   
        
Raul joined The Moorings in March, 1998 as revenue/yield manager, responsible for introducing revenue management (yield management) techniques and improving yacht utilization and fleet planning. In 2001, he took on the responsibility of global sales, including the management of the global indirect sales network and direct sales offices in Germany, France and England. In 2003, he was promoted to vice president of global charter sales and marketing for The Moorings.

Prior to joining The Moorings, Raul spent 10 years at Ryder Truck Rental Inc., serving in a variety of roles, including pricing consultant, product sales trainer and dealer development marketing manager.

Raul was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, where he lived until the age of 12, when his family relocated to Miami, FL. He has been married for 15 years to his wife, Kelly, and they are the proud parents of four children, all of whom enjoy sailing and participate in the St. Petersburg Sailing Center summer sailing program. A lifelong boater, Raul enjoys sailing and loves taking family sailing vacations every year at favorite family sailing destinations in the Abacos, Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands.
