Industry Support Sought for 9th International Sailing Summit, Paris 2008
The 9th International Sailing Summit, Paris 2008, is seeking support from the sailing industry for its program, to be held Dec. 4, in conjunction with the Paris International Boat Show, which opens the following day.
The theme and the program for ISS is still being finalized, but it will focus upon the “Successes of Sailing and the Sailing Industry in France,” and “Successes from Outside Sailing that We Can Learn From.”
Chairman Alistair Murray is asking Sail America members for their support by attending, presenting, promoting or sponsoring ISS, which is scheduled prior to the inaugural “World Yacht Racing Forum,” held in Monaco on Dec 10-11. ISS includes a welcoming evening reception on Dec. 3rd for the 100 industry leaders expected to attend from throughout the world.
“Our goal is to run the ISS and in addition to have the sailing industry, through the ISS, become a sponsor of “Connect to Sailing”, which is ISAF’s program, inspired by the Summit, which promotes participation in sailing,” he said. “We would also like to make a generous ISS grant to a worthy program in France that promotes sailing and that needs the funds.”
He notes, “In the past, the ISS has received fantastic sponsorship support from the industry, on the basis that a good number of us contribute a small amount each to underwrite what is good for the industry and (it) becomes THE sailing industry network event of the year.”
Philippe Fourrier, of FIN, who runs the Paris Boat Show, will be the event’s organizer. Further details regarding the ISS’s location at the Hotel Sofitel, including accommodation information will be communicated soon.
Murray invites all Sail members to send their ISS pledges of support or ideas for sponsors to him at Alistair Murray at amurray@ronstan.com.au.
