Senior Editor Promoted at SpinSheet

Senior Editor Promoted at SpinSheetMolly Winans has been named editor at SpinSheet, the Chesapeake Bay sailing magazine. Winans had formerly served as the magazine's senior editor and she succeeds magazine co-founder Dave Gendell who moves to an editor-at-large position and will continue to contribute to the magazine on a monthly basis.

A life-long sailor and long-time Annapolis resident, Winans is a graduate of Allegheny College and earned a master’s degree in Literature from the University of Rhode Island. She has been the senior editor at SpinSheet since July, 2006 and was a freelance contributor before joining the full-time staff.

Winans says, "This job seems custom-made for me in many ways. I love sailing. I come from a family of storytellers, and birds of a feather have always flocked to me. Having taught college writing for 10 years, I enjoy cultivating new writers and helping them tell their stories. This is important as SpinSheet's greatest strength is the inclusion of as many sailors' faces and voices as possible in every issue. I plan on carrying on that tradition and improving upon it."

SpinSheet co-founder Dave Gendell says, "This is a long-planned and natural transition. Molly understands the values and focus of SpinSheet. She brings energy and a fresh approach to the position, and I have complete faith in her judgment and talent."

SpinSheet Publishing Company was launched in 1995 by Mary Ewenson and Dave Gendell. The enterprise is located in the Eastport section and employs 12 full-time staff. Every monthly issue of SpinSheet is distributed for free at more than 750 locations in the mid-Atlantic and beyond. For additional information, please contact Mary Ewenson, (410) 216-9309 or mary@spinsheet.com.
