Strictly Sail Chicago Space Sales On Upswing

Exhibitors continue to snap up space for the upcoming 13th Strictly Sail Chicago, the largest indoor sailboat show in the country.

Held at Navy Pier from Jan. 31-Feb 3, 2008, Strictly Sail Chicago is adding several new attractions, including SAIL Magazine’s Innovation Station and US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Display, where visitors can view Olympic boats and equipment, meet past sailing Olympians and learn more about the U.S.’s participation in the 2008 Games in Beijing, China.

“Due to the increasing popularity of sailing over the past 13 years, the show has seen consistent growth in exhibitors, seminars and show features,” said Kevin Murphy, show manager. “Strictly Sail Chicago is designed to introduce the sport to sailing novices while providing seasoned captains with the latest and greatest in sailing information and products.”

Launched in 1996, Strictly Sail Chicago’s four-day celebration of sailing traditionally draws more than 20,000 sailors with its non-stop mix of interactive displays, special events, nightly parties and a full seminar schedule from the most renowned sailors in the world.

Sailors of all ages and abilities find Strictly Sail Chicago “the sailing event” of the year. Beginners can learn sailing basics, while experienced sailors are introduced to new techniques and technologies. Sailing adventure cruisers, authors and experts will share their experiences at sea. Attendees are encouraged to bring children along to enjoy the Kids Club, an activity center designed for junior sailors to build their own sailboat models, draw “sailboats of the future,” learn knot tying and race boats in the makeshift “lake” on the show floor.

Midwest sailors enduring this winter’s frigid weather will love planning future cruises by checking out the latest sailboats, gear, hardware and accessories from more than 250 exhibitors. This year's activities include remote control boat racing to challenge your family or friends, live music by the Eric Stone Band, daily prizes and special events. Additionally, Navy Pier, located on Chicago’s famous waterfront, offers restaurants, stores and fun-filled activities.
