Strictly Sail Pacific to Return to Jack London Square
Sail America is pleased to announce the dates and location for the 2008 Strictly Sail Pacific Show.
After nearly twelve months of researching a number of potential new show locations, Strictly Sail Pacific will be back at Jack London Square for 2008 from April 16-20. Remaining in Oakland, CA, for one more year offers exhibitors and attendees a familiar and successful venue and will allow Sail America staff and local show committee members more time to finalize plans for a new show location for 2009. Plans for the new location are well under way and a formal announcement is expected to be made in the next couple of months.
After many years of planning, the Port of Oakland has finally started work on a major construction project at Jack London Square, which has tied up much of the space the show used in the past. The Port of Oakland, with the help of the NCMA (Northern California Marine Association), has agreed to free up enough space for both the NCMA Power Expo and Strictly Sail Pacific. Using a slightly smaller land area format than past shows, Strictly Sail will fill two large tents and several smaller tents between the Last Chance Saloon and the Waterfront Plaza Hotel. Sail America will continue to work with the NCMA to find more useable land space within the vicinity of the current layout. The marina will not be affected other than the majority of the land displays, including the main entrance, will now be in front of the West Basin.
“Jack London Square's expansion plans have presented new challenges this year, but we have worked hard to create the best solution for exhibitors and showgoers,” said Sail America national show manager Kevin Murphy. “We apologize for the delay in announcing our plans for the 2008 show. It took longer than expected to finalize the details of the revised Jack London Square floorplan. We are now confident that we can put on a show to the same high standards as previous shows.”
Contracts will be faxed to last year’s exhibitors first. Exhibitors are encouraged to make necessary updates/changes to the existing contracts and mail payments for space directly to the Sail America Office by Jan 25, 2008. Sail America members will also benefit from discounted space rates. A membership application form will be faxed along with the show contracts or can be downloaded at http://www.sailamerica.com/SA%20Application%20Form.pdf.
