North Sails is pleased to announce that Per Andersson, one of the most experienced and talented sail designers in the world, has joined the North Sails team.
Andrew Macaulay will join Bonnier Marine Group as Associate Publisher of Cruising World and Sailing World, where he will manage the sales effort for both marine and non-marine advertising.
Lewmar Marine USA announced that Jay Stockmann, former vice president of sales and marketing, has been promoted to executive vice president.
Isabelle Diefenbach was appointed regional manager responsible for advertising sales at SAIL, the Sailboat Buyers Guide and sailmagazine.com in the western region states, as well as in Texas.
John Morrison has joined Blue Water Sailing magazine and Cruising Compass as Regional Sales Manager for the Mid-Atlantic States.
North Sails is pleased to announce that Per Andersson, one of the most experienced and talented sail designers in the world, has joined the North Sails team. A native of Sweden, Andersson has 30 years of sailmaking experience, including working as principle sail designer for five Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race teams and three America's Cup teams. He will be based at the North Sails loft in Stevensville, MD.
Andersson started his international sailmaking career in Perth, Western Australia and eventually ended up with Hood Sails in New Zealand and in the U.S. In 1989, Andersson accepted a position as designer for Sobstad Sailmakers in Annapolis and then Quantum Sail Design Group, where he was vice president and senior sail designer.
"Per is one of the most accomplished and respected sailmakers and sail designers in our industry," said Dan Neri, who heads North Sails's 3DL manufacturing facility in Minden, Nevada.
"I have always had a lot of respect for North Sails and I realize that their sail design systems and software are the most sophisticated and advanced on the market today, which offers a lot of new opportunities for a sail designer like me," said Andersson.
Andersson will work on a variety of special projects at North Sails and will help North Sails expand within several one design and grand prix markets. Per Andersson can be reached at per@prg.northsails.com.
Sally Helme, publisher of Bonnier Marine Group’s Cruising World and Sailing World, has named Andrew Macaulay as Associate Publisher of the two sailing titles. Macaulay will manage the sales effort for both marine and non-marine advertising.
With nearly 15 years of experience at titles such as Forbes, Motor Boating, Sail and Women’s Health magazines, Macaulay is an accomplished and innovative publishing professional. Most recently, Macaulay has been exploring the uncharted frontier of digital network building and online advertising sales as an account executive for Gorilla Nation Media.
“I am impressed by Andrew’s professionalism, creativity, tenacity, and will to win,” Helme noted about Macaulay. “I believe that he will bring strong leadership to our team, as well as a fresh perspective and new ideas.”

Lewmar Marine USA, which manufactures deck equipment and rigging for leisure boats, has announced that Jay Stockmann, former vice president of sales and marketing, has been promoted to executive vice president.
In his new position, Stockmann, who joined Lewmar in 2002, will be responsible for all OEM and aftermarket sales and marketing of the Lewmar brand. His expanded role will include focusing on leveraging opportunities with Navtec.
“Jay has been an important part of the growth of Lewmar Marine. His new title and increased responsibilities reflect our anticipation of even greater success in the future,” said Gregory Smith, newly appointed CEO of Lewmar USA, and president of Navtec Corporation, Inc., Lewmar’s marine rigging division, both based in Guilford, CT.
Stockmann, 42, lives in Guilford with his wife and two daughters. He holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Vermont and is an avid sailor, boater, runner, cyclist, skier and outdoor enthusiast.

Diefenbach began her advertising career in media planning with BBDO Advertising in New York, and moved to the West Coast in 2000, where she worked at OMD/DDB and Mediavest. She later transitioned to advertising sales, representing Family Circle, Boys' Life and Guidepost. She is a native Parisian and was educated at the Sorbonne in Paris.
“Beyond her enthusiasm and sales skills, Isabelle will bring tremendous agency insight to this team,” said Gregg Boersma, SAIL’s advertising director, in a statement.

A veteran of more than 15 years of advertising and media sales, Morrison was for more than a decade a lead regional sales manager for Yachting, Motorboating and Saltwater Sportsman magazines. His base in Annapolis, Maryland, places him in the heart of the sailing industry where he will have the opportunity to serve several of the largest sailing companies in America.
"I am thrilled to join Blue Water Sailing and Cruising Compass," Morrison said. "I am a lifelong sailor and a firm believer in highly focused, niche publications."
Blue Water Sailing, with a circulation of more than 52,000 readers, was founded 11 years ago by circumnavigators George and Rosa Day to serve the audience of serious sailors and cruisers. In 2006, Blue Water Sailing launched the free weekly e-newsletter Cruising Compass which now reaches 16,500 opt-in readers every week. And, in 2008, Blue Water Sailing will launch the new stand-alone publication Premier Cruising Boats of the World which will be published in high-end, art-book format and will be sold on newsstands and in bookstores through 2008.
Morrison joins a highly professional sales team that includes National Account Manager Tim Day, Regional Sales Manager (Southeast, Caribbean & California) Tom Casey and Classified/Dockyard Sales Manager Lynn Reid.
