TWO SAILING COMPANIES RECEIVE NMMA & BWI INNOVATION AWARDS

Ten marine manufacturers received top product accolades during the Miami International Boat Show on February 11 at a special ceremony, receiving Innovation Awards jointly produced by the NMMA and Boating Writers International. Judged by an esteemed group of leading marine journalists, awards received by sailing companies included Sailology whose WinchRite, and Torqeedo whose Travel 503/1003, both took home top honors.

The Sailology WinchRite is a cordless electric winch handle which is designed to allow for easily cranking sailboat winches at an affordable price. The judges noted, “This affordable device makes every winch a power winch and will extend boaters’ sailing careers.”

The Torqeedo features a display integrated into the tiller GPS that provides information without the remaining range at current speed, power consumption and state of charge. Said the judges, “Torqeedo continues to show its commitment to providing alternative propulsion solutions and we felt this was an admirable step in the right direction toward environmental causes.”
