MEET THE NEW SAIL AMERICA BOARD MEMBER REPRESENTATIVES
SCOT WEST – Ronstan International
Scot West has been with Ronstan since 2005. As President of Ronstan’s North American division, he is involved with all aspects of the sail hardware and architectural rigging company’s business, including managing Ronstan’s team of 12 professionals across the USA. Scot has been in the sailing industry for close to 20 years, first with Sunsail in Florida and Annapolis, and then for 5 years as Sail America’s Executive Director.
He lives in Portsmouth RI, with his wife Lynda and 4 children.
JAHN TIHANSKY – U.S. Naval Academy
Jahn Tihansky has been with the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis since 2005. As Head Coach of the Offshore Sailing Team, he coaches the Midshipman team for competition in Intercollegiate and Offshore racing and small unit leadership.
During Jahn’s 35 years in the marine industry, he has worked with Hood Sail Makers and Sobstad Sails, and since 1993 has owned the J World Sailing School’s franchise in Annapolis. At J World, he ran numerous successful racing and cruise training courses throughout the U.S and Caribbean and also developed a thriving corporate experiential learning program.
Jahn’s sailing background includes inshore and offshore big boat racing, blue water passage making, bareboat cruising, and one design racing aboard dinghies, keelboats and multihulls. He holds a USCG 50 ton Master license along with multiple US Sailing Instructor certifications. He resides in West River, MD with his wife Patty.
Both Scot and Jahn bring strong industry experience and leadership skills to the board, as well as a great deal of energy and enthusiasm.
