Sail America Welcomes New and Returning Board Members
Sail America welcomes three new Board members to its 17-person Board of Directors, who were confirmed at the Jan. 31 Board meeting in Chicago. Stanton Murray, David Graham and Bill Mosher will join returning Board members Bill Goggins, Gerry Douglas and Charlie Nobles, who were elected for a three-year extension to their current terms on the Board.
“These new and returning board members are all highly respected leaders in the sailing industry and their portfolio of skills, wisdom, experience and expertise will be an enormous asset to Sail America’s future,” said Executive Director Jonathan Banks. “Their contributions will be especially important now as Sail America continues to implement a vision of expanded new member benefits, programs and initiatives.”
In 2008, board members will help guide Sail America’s decisions as it produces four Strictly Sail boat shows, two SailFest Events, numerous educational initiatives, industry research and marketing campaigns, all of which are focused on fostering a successful business climate for industry members.
In addition, current board member Lex Raas has resigned due to an anticipated full schedule of work-related commitments as CEO of TUI Marine, formerly First Choice Marine. In addition, Raas also has been asked to be the CEO of Sunsail Clubs as well as LeBoat, the world’s leading canal boat rental business that operates 1,100 boats on the European canals. Sail America thanks Raas for his service.
