Gill Compressor Vest Buoyancy Aid Earns DAME Awards Honor

Gill’s new award-winning Compressor Vest combines innovative, futuristic design with high-tech, ergonomic materials to offer sailors a highly effective buoyancy aid and personal flotation device (PFD) that is comfortable to wear. Gill North America is a Sail America member.

The Gill Compressor Vest earned a “Special Mention” honor in 2007 in the category of “Life Saving and Safety Equipment” at the prestigious DAME (Design Award METS) Awards, recognized worldwide as the leading competition of its type in the field of marine equipment and accessories.

Designed to reduce wind resistance with a minimum of bulk, the Compressor Vest also works well for jet-skiers, windsurfers, kitesailors and sportsboats enthusiasts. The Compressor Vest’s fitted, close cut ensures the vest clamps securely to the wearer to provide the maximum amount of buoyancy. At the same time, wearers can move easily and freely to enjoy their sailing, boating or water sports. To prevent snagging, there are no loose straps or loops. Instead, the waist belt is concealed inside the back of the vest, fastening across the front to a snap-shut buckle on the left side.

With a CE 50 Newton approval rating made to the ISO EN12402/5 standard, the low-profile PFD is made from 3mm neoprene with a Lycra lining. Each foam section is ergonomically shaped and held firmly in place within the vest lining for a comfortable and effective fit.
