Discover Boating Posts Impressive Results
Awareness of boating was given a fun boost when Discover Boating transformed its “Good Run” video into an e-mailable Father’s Day greeting card on americangreetings.com. The e-card featured scenes from the short film and was promoted on the major retailer’s homepage. To help further promote the e-card, Discover Boating also ran a banner advertisement on American Greeting’s website.
In other website developments, NMMA reported that discoverboating.com posted strong activity for the month of May. The site had nearly 335,000 visits, with page views reportedly exceeding 1.6 million. The NMMA claims that daily site traffic is up an average of 27% compared to the same period last year. In addition, nearly 22,500 requests came in for the free “Get Started in Boating” DVD that is offered as part of the Discover Boating program.
Public relations efforts also enjoyed solid returns, as some of the major networks provided extensive coverage of boating heading into the summer. Some of the major metro markets providing regional television coverage included Miami, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Washington DC, Sacramento, Atlanta and Chicago. National exposure was generated on ABC World News Tonight and the CBS Early Show.
In other news, the Marine Industry Dealership Certification program will begin hosting its fall series of regional Certification Launch Workshops this August. Attendance at a one-day Launch Workshop is required for all dealerships the initial year of Certification. During the workshop, program requirements are explained in detail and dealerships are provided with tools necessary to complete the Dealership Certification process. Additional information, including upcoming launch workshops’ dates, is posted on www.dealercertification.org.
With the seasonal phase-out of many print-oriented Grow Boating advertisements, the organization is encouraging marine industry companies to register on Grow Boating’s website, www.GrowBoating.org in order to stay informed of the latest Discover Boating news.
