SailTime® Membership and Partners Expand Worldwide

The SailTime® Group LLC recently announced that since 2005, 16 new SailTime bases have opened up in the U.S. and ten more in Europe, representing a significant expansion in membership and franchise locations in the U.S. and worldwide. With nearly 1,000 fractional sailing members and more than 50 locations worldwide, SailTime®’s growth has been fueled by the increasing popularity of fractional sailing, which offers sailing enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy use of a luxury sailboat without the obligation or cost of ownership.

“The concept of fractional sailing, which SailTime® (www.sailtime.com) pioneered in 2001, has helped both novice and experienced sailors enjoy sailing without the hassle, cost and complexities of owning, docking, insuring and maintaining their own boat,” notes Wayne Diviney, CEO and President of SailTime®. “This novel concept is literally changing the way people sail, and helping introduce thousands of new sailors to the sport and recreation of boating at a fraction of the cost of ownership.”

SailTime® has also formalized relationships with Hunter in the U.S. and Beneteau in Europe as the preferred vendors for 33’ and larger, state-of-the-art luxury sailboats.

Hunter Marine’s John T. Peterson said SailTime® also has convinced some fractional owners to become full-time sailboat owners. “We have benefitted as this is the third conversion from a Sailtime member to a Hunter boat owner in the past 30 days,” said Peterson, vice president of sales and marketing. Peterson said SailTime® is a “bright, working example of innovation putting people on the water.” Peterson estimates that Hunter’s 128 boats at SailTime’s North American bases have put over 1,000 people on the water.

“Fractional sailing has not only helped to introduce new people to sailing,” noted Sail America Executive Director Jonathan Banks, “It has also helped stimulate growth in the overall industry.”
