Sailing Channel Theatre Launches New High Sea Adventure Series
In late June, TheSailingChannel.TV announced the exclusive broadcast premiere of Sailing Channel Theatre, a half hour series that features classic and critically acclaimed sailing stories. According to Tory Salvia, episodes began streaming online at thesailingchannel.tv and wliw.org/sailing the week of July 5.
The seasoning opener, Cruising Has No Limits, featured legendary cruising couple Lin and Larry Pardey, who have sailed over 185,000 miles. The couple took viewers on their exciting ocean escapades to Southern Africa, Brazil and Ireland. Shot aboard their engineless Taleisin, and on location at their home base in New Zealand and in three other continents, Cruising breaks down the basics for nautical novices with practical lessons on how to go beyond the shores of the world’s oceans and explore local cultures.
“Sailing is one of the all-time favorite sports in the world. Combined with pitch perfect cinematography and the thrill of a nautical adventure, this visually stunning television series lives up to the standards that WLIW21 is known for,” said John Servidio, acting general manager, WLIW21. “It’s a no-brainer to team with TheSailingChannel.TV to share with viewers the joy of this wonderful sport.”
WLIW21, a WNET.ORG station, is an innovator in broadcasting, production and distribution for public television. A leading producer of fundraising programming for PBS, WLIW21 brings U.S. audiences the popular Visions aerial series, cultural documentaries, self-help and performance specials.
Future episodes of Sailing Channel Theater will feature stories covering all aspects of maritime culture, including famous seafaring personalities and rarely-told nautical history.
