We Need You in Our “Association”

In a few days, you will receive a formal letter from me regarding your highly valued membership in Sail America (Click Here to read letter). This detailed letter addresses the future of Sail America, the bottom-line benefits of your membership, along with a rallying cry for your continued support in this, your association … the exclusive association in the United States for those whose livelihoods are engaged in the sailing industry.

I’d like to re-emphasize a few key points.

First: We want and need your pledge of support and commitment!

Second: This is YOUR ASSOCIATION! This word – association - carries special meaning. To associate one with another in meaningful ways allows each of us to strengthen one another … and thereby strengthen our industry. We need to work together and to harness our collective energies and resources. By doing so, we can all enjoy a healthier sailing market. Sail America is working to that end.

Third: Your Association has responded to the change in the marketplace. Our direction today focuses on partnership-building. We no longer depend on the operation of boat shows to maintain our financial stability. While we are actively involved in boat shows and partner with the NMMA and other key show producers and organizers, our new business model gives us freedom to focus on areas that you, our members, have told us are important. We have several new and exciting partner programs underway!

Fourth: We fully understand the financial strains facing our members and those businesses operating in the marine community. As a result, we have structured a special discounted membership program that you will read about later in this edition of Sail America News. Our goal is to be responsive to your needs and to partner with you for success!

Fifth: As always, Sail America’s Board of Directors and I are open to your feedback and suggestions. After you’ve had a chance to receive and review my letter, I hope you’ll take the time to contact me or any member of the board to share your thoughts and ideas. We welcome and encourage your commentary and your active involvement.

I genuinely look forward to my association with you in the days, months and years ahead. Thanks for all you do to promote sailing!

Warm Regards,
Bill Goggins
