2010 SAILING INDUSTRY CONFERENCE COMING THIS JUNE!


Sail America has announced plans for its second annual Sailing Industry Conference to be held June 15 – 16, 2010 in Annapolis, MD, with the second annual Sailing Industry Regatta to be held June 14 at J-World Annapolis.

According to committee chair and Blue Water Sailing magazine Publisher George Day, the association decided to move forward with the Sailing Industry Conference in an effort to provide its membership with practical tools and proven expertise to help them better manage their businesses in today’s challenging business environment.

“We themed our conference ‘Adjusting to the New Economy,’ because this is the most significant challenge our industry is facing,” said Day. “We’ve designed a comprehensive two-day agenda full of solid presentations designed to help our members deal with this new economy and reality.”

The conference, which is sponsored by Yanmar, will be held at St. Johns College and will feature a solid mix of featured speakers from both inside and outside the sailing industry.

Keynote speakers include management consultant and Chairman of the US Olympic Sailing Committee Dean Brenner, speaking on “Leadership Communication for the 21st Century”; champion sailor and motivational speaker Vince Morvillo on “It’s Not Just a Recession”; and sales and marketing expert Don Cooper on “The Future of Selling

Breakout session include sailing editor and author Dieter Loibner on “Sustainability in the Sailing Industry”; executive coach and communications specialist Nancy Ansheles on “Improving Personal Communication”; economic strategist Bill Thompson on “Banking and Finance – How It Has Changed”; yachts.com Editorial Director John Burnham and panel on “Social Media/Networking”; and Dominion Enterprises Chief Information Officer Joe Fuller on “The New Internet

Two general session presentations will also be held. Day will facilitate “Changes in Behavior of the Sailing Consumer” and the Sporting Goods Manufacturers of America will present “Focus on Participation and How Sailing is Doing vs. Other Leisure Activities and Sports

The West Marine-sponsored Sailing Industry Regatta will bring together teams for a hotly-contested competition aboard identical J/80s as industry players vie to win the coveted Sailing Industry Regatta Trophy.

Yanmar is the title sponsor for the Industry Conference and Sail Magazine, The Sailing Company, Blue Water Sailing, GE Financial and Harken are all presenting sponsors. The Sailing Industry Regatta is sponsored by West Marine. Insight Marketing is the official marketing partner and Kenton Smith Marketing is the official Public Relations Sponsor.
