CRUISERS UNIVERSITY GETS UNDERWAY IN BALTIMORE!

Paul Jacobs of United States Yacht Shows says Cruisers University is all set and ready to roll May 12-15 at the Baltimore Marine Center Inner Harbor. Jacobs reports that cruisers from Australia, British Columbia, US Virgin Islands and 16 states in the US are already registered.

Billed as the “Ultimate Aid to Navigation,” this event will feature nearly 100 hours of cruising seminars. Sail America is actively engaged in this event and is coordinating the “Introduction to Cruising” seminar program. Topics ranging from Diesel Maintenance, Weather Forecasting, On-board Electrical, Navigation, Medical, and Electronics to Cruising the Great Loop and Crossing the Gulf Stream will be featured. Although the Diesel Maintenance class is sold out, there is open enrollment still available in 70 other classes.

Besides the 70+ cruising boats that will be on display, ranging from 32’ to 64’, dozens of maritime exhibitors will also showcase their wares and services around Rash Field – renamed the “Field of Dreams” over the weekend. Other attractions include door prizes, Mount Gay rum cocktail sampling, Access sailing dinghy rides, a food court, and more.

“This is an event designed to change the landscape of boat shows,” said Jacobs. “Participation, interactivity, education, and entertainment all add to the enjoyment of being able to climb aboard a wide range of cruising boats, both power and sail, monohull, multihulls, trawlers, and cruisers. All meals, boat demos, evening social events, keynote speakers and much more are available to those who register for the university classes.”

Details, tuition options and course descriptions are available at www.usboat.com or by calling 410-268-8828. Adult tickets are $15, Children 7-12 are $5, and children six and under are free. Tickets are available online, or at the gate.
