St. Petersburg Boat Show and Strictly Sail Sail Feature New Displays and an Exciting Seminar Program
The St. Petersburg Boat Show & Strictly Sail™, the Gulf
Coast’s new super show running from Dec. 4-7, features displays
and debuts from several of the industry’s most-respected names,
including Hunter Marine, Catalina Yachts, Island Packet,
Beneteau, Jeanneau America, to name just a few.
The sailing fleet will be displayed on land
and in a beautiful waterfront marina during
the four-day boating festival at the Mahaffey
Theater Yacht Basin in St. Petersburg.
Boater’s World is presenting The St.
Petersburg Boat Show & Strictly Sail sponsored
by Mercedes Benz and co-sponsored by Marina
Pez Vela. With more than 200 power boats and
50 sailboats, the Gulf Coast’s show showcases
the very best in sailing and boating. In addition,
Sail America is organizing a program of more
than 70 stand-out seminars that cover all facets
of the sailing and boating lifestyles, from
the magic of discovering exotic new ports around
the world, to the must-have knowledge of staying
safe and healthy at sea.
New Hunter Marine models docked on display
include the Hunter 50CC, the brand new 50 Center
Cockpit that is a "breakthrough" boat
that defines a safe, comfortable and exceptionally
easy-to-sail center cockpit cruiser, which
allows for short-handed applications. Other
in-water models are the Hunter 45 DS (a Boat
of the Year nominee), the Hunter 49, the Hunter
41DS, and the Hunter 36 and Hunter 33.
On land, Hunter is also bringing its buzzworthy
new 27-ft power sailor called theEDGE, a Boat of the Year nominee. Trailerable,
beachable and user-friendly, theEDGE is at
home sailing the high seas or for wakeboarding
and tubing. Plus, the Hunter 216, Hunter 170
and Hunter 146 are part of the Hunter display
on land.
Catalina Yachts is displaying the Catalina
375, introduced this year and another Boat
of the Year nominee. Catalina is now introducing
an optional interior design featuring a comfortable
L-shaped settee and pedestal table that converts
to a wide berth. Other Catalina Yachts on display
are the Catalina 440, 350 MKII, 320 MKII, 309,
250 MKII and 22 Sport.
Catalina Yachts is also offering to shuttle
show-goers to its nearby factory in Largo for
tours to learn first-hand about the art and
science of building a Catalina Yachts. After
taking the tour, show-goers will then be shuttled
back to the show.
Island Packet will have their full line on
display at the show: the brand-new Island Packet
460, another Boat of the Year nominee, plus
the Island Packet 465, Island Packet 485 and
the SP Cruiser.
The new Island Packet 460 has a two-cabin,
aft cockpit design by Bob Johnson that incorporates
all the signature elements that have won the
company their reputation as America's Cruising
Yacht Leader.™
Latitudes and Attitudes is
also presenting its Ninth Annual St.
Pete Cruiser’s Party on Dec. 6. This
popular beer-and-pizza Saturday night party
gets rocking with the Eric Stone Band. Plus,
enter for a chance to win a week-long Sunsail
charter, a Mason anchor or a Spectra Watermaker,™ valued
at $10,000, in raffles to benefit the refitting
of the Charles W. Morgan, a historic
New Bedford whaler located in Mystic Seaport,
CT.
Entertaining and educational seminars are
included in the price of show admission and
will be held in three air-conditioned Seminar
Tents. Respected experts and skippers, best-selling
boating authors and world cruisers will share
their fascinating tales of sailing adventure
and their expert advice about the boating lifestyle.

section of the air-conditioned tent and a few
