St. Petersburg Boat Show and Strictly Sail Sail Feature New Displays and an Exciting Seminar Program

The St. Petersburg Boat Show & Strictly Sail™, the Gulf Coast’s new super show running from Dec. 4-7, features displays and debuts from several of the industry’s most-respected names, including  Hunter Marine, Catalina Yachts, Island Packet, Beneteau, Jeanneau America, to name just a few.

The sailing fleet will be displayed on land and in a beautiful waterfront marina during the four-day boating festival at the Mahaffey Theater Yacht Basin in St. Petersburg.

Boater’s World is presenting The St. Petersburg Boat Show & Strictly Sail sponsored by Mercedes Benz and co-sponsored by Marina Pez Vela. With more than 200 power boats and 50 sailboats, the Gulf Coast’s show showcases the very best in sailing and boating. In addition, Sail America is organizing a program of more than 70 stand-out seminars that cover all facets of the sailing and boating lifestyles, from the magic of discovering exotic new ports around the world, to the must-have knowledge of staying safe and healthy at sea.

New Hunter Marine models docked on display include the Hunter 50CC, the brand new 50 Center Cockpit that is a "breakthrough" boat that defines a safe, comfortable and exceptionally easy-to-sail center cockpit cruiser, which allows for short-handed applications. Other in-water models are the Hunter 45 DS (a Boat of the Year nominee), the Hunter 49, the Hunter 41DS, and the Hunter 36 and Hunter 33.

On land, Hunter is also bringing its buzzworthy new 27-ft power sailor called theEDGE, a Boat of the Year nominee. Trailerable, beachable and user-friendly, theEDGE is at home sailing the high seas or for wakeboarding and tubing. Plus, the Hunter 216, Hunter 170 and Hunter 146 are part of the Hunter display on land.

Catalina Yachts is displaying the Catalina 375, introduced this year and another Boat of the Year nominee. Catalina is now introducing an optional interior design featuring a comfortable L-shaped settee and pedestal table that converts to a wide berth. Other Catalina Yachts on display are the Catalina 440, 350 MKII, 320 MKII, 309, 250 MKII and 22 Sport.

Catalina Yachts is also offering to shuttle show-goers to its nearby factory in Largo for tours to learn first-hand about the art and science of building a Catalina Yachts. After taking the tour, show-goers will then be shuttled back to the show.

Island Packet will have their full line on display at the show: the brand-new Island Packet 460, another Boat of the Year nominee, plus the Island Packet 465, Island Packet 485 and the SP Cruiser.

The new Island Packet 460 has a two-cabin, aft cockpit design by Bob Johnson that incorporates all the signature elements that have won the company their reputation as America's Cruising Yacht Leader.™

Latitudes and Attitudes is also presenting its Ninth Annual St. Pete Cruiser’s Party on Dec. 6. This popular beer-and-pizza Saturday night party gets rocking with the Eric Stone Band. Plus, enter for a chance to win a week-long Sunsail charter, a Mason anchor or a Spectra Watermaker,™ valued at $10,000, in raffles to benefit the refitting of the Charles W. Morgan, a historic New Bedford whaler located in Mystic Seaport, CT.

Entertaining and educational seminars are included in the price of show admission and will be held in three air-conditioned Seminar Tents. Respected experts and skippers, best-selling boating authors and world cruisers will share their fascinating tales of sailing adventure and their expert advice about the boating lifestyle.

There are still a few spaces left in the sailing section of the air-conditioned tent and a few slips in the in-water section. For further information please contact Chuck Bolt at Show Management at (954) 764-7642 Ext. 215 or cbolt@showmanagement.com
