LATE BREAKING UPDATES AND SHOW REPORTS:
STRICTLY SAIL MIAMI:
Show Manager Kevin Murphy shares exhibitor news and developments for the upcoming Miami event in 2010.
According to Strictly Sail Show Manager Kevin Murphy, space allocation at the new Sea Isle venue is well underway, with numerous companies having already booked space.
Those confirmed to date include Harken, Sailing Services, Line Honors, Latitudes & Attitudes, Windrider, Gill NA, New Found Metals, ASA, Technautics, Doyle Super Hood Sailmakers, Garhauer Marine, Mack Sails, Nance & Underwood, US Spars, Yanmar and several others.
“While change is never easy, it appears as though many of our sailing industry leaders recognize positive change is in the wind … after Annapolis, the mood has changed for the better,” said Murphy. “I have actually had a couple of companies that had originally cancelled after the venue change since call back and want space. It’s still available and, based on what we’re seeing, we’re expecting a solid slate of participants.”
In addition to positive news on the exhibitor front, Murphy also noted that exhibitor parking has been confirmed and is now available. Room blocks for the sailing industry have been confirmed at the Holiday Inn and Opera Suites exclusively for Strictly Sail exhibitors. Both parking and reservation data can be accessed online at the Strictly Sail website: www.strictlysailmiami.com
In addition to the land venue, a few limited slips will be available at Bayside for those boats which cannot fit under the bridge. Water and land shuttles will be available to and from Sea Isle to this Bayside location.
Murphy also reports that Strictly Sail is due to indirectly benefit from the new venue space at Sea Isle as it now becomes an integral part of the traditional powerboat marketing program initiatives. Sail-specific marketing is also in full gear. Social marketing efforts will become an important component of both the power and sail marketing programs this year, he said.
