Sail America Board Member Josh Adams Recognized with 2012 SAIL Industry Leadership Award

Josh Adams—Sail America's president, US Sailing's new managing director of U.S. Olympic Sailing, and former publisher of SAIL magazine—was awarded the SAIL Industry Leadership Award on October 4, 2012, during SAIL's annual luncheon at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD.

"Through the years, SAIL's Industry Leadership Award has recognized great leaders of all kinds—sailboat and gear manufacturers, marketers, and influential sailboat dealers," Peter Nielsen, SAIL editor, said. "Josh has worked tirelessly not just to promote the sailing industry, but also to attract new blood into sailing itself."

Adams first joined SAIL in 1996 as a member of the editorial team. A lifelong and accomplished sailor, he was a three-time collegiate All-American at Tufts University, member of the U.S. Sailing Team (1995–96) and member of the 1999 America's Cup challenger Young America.

In 2006, Adams became publisher of SAIL and was responsible for increasing the strength of the brand and directing the magazine toward a multi-platform media strategy. His commitment to the sailing industry has been extensive. In addition to being an executive committee member of US Sailing's Olympic Sailing Committee since 2005, he has served on the board of the sailing industry trade association, Sail America, since 2007, most recently as its president.

In his new role as managing director of U.S. Olympic Sailing, Adams will spend the next four years heading up the team and helping them prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
