Discover Sailing to Introduce New Sailboats at Fall Boat Shows
Sail America’s Discover Sailing program introduced
two new sailboats at boat shows this fall; The Hunter EDGE,
and the LaserPerformance SB3. Discover Sailing is
a national program run by Sail America that promotes the sailing lifestyle,
introduces new people to sailing, and provides reliable, unbiased information
about how to get started in sailing.
Visitors to the Michigan City In-Water
Boat Show that ran from Aug. 21-24 at
the Washington Park Marina had
a chance to sail in the new Hunter
EDGE motorsailor as part of the
show’s Discover Sailing program.
Other sailboats in the Discover Sailing program
included a Hunter 216.
Show attendees at the Lake Union Boats
Afloat that ran from Sept. 10-14 at the Chandler’s
Cove Marina in Seattle, WA, had
the opportunity to sail LaserPerformance’s
new SB3 that recently debuted in
the US market. This exciting one-design racing
sailboat has a large following in Europe
and was named Sailing World Magazine’s
2008 Overall Boat of the Year. In addition
to the SB3, show attendees at Boats Afloat
also can take a sail on a J-105 and a J-80;
two very exciting and easy-to-sail boats
that have enjoyed great success in the US
and around the world.
A Corsair Sprint 750, a J-100 and
a Beneteau 50 were all big hits
at the Discover Sailing event at
the Newport International Boat Show,
Sept 11-14.
Banks expressed his appreciation to the manufacturers
and local dealers who have teamed up with show
organizers and Discover Sailing to make these
exciting opportunities available to the show-going
public.
“None of this would be possible without
the generosity and support of Hunter Marine,
LaserPerformance, The Multihull Source, J-Boats, and
their local dealers,” Banks
stated.
