9TH International Sailing Summit in Paris Aims to Learn from Success of Others
Sailing Industry leaders will convene in Paris for the International
Sailing Summit (ISS) on Dec. 4th, 2008 to network and share
ideas for promoting participation in sailing
throughout the world.
After eight previous successful Summits, held
all over the world, this summit will be the
first meeting in Paris. This 9th ISS will be
hosted by FIN, the French nautical
federation, and will be held on Dec.
4th as a lead-in to the Paris International
Boat Show.
“Learning from the Successes of Others” is
the summit’s theme with a great line-up
of speakers. In the morning, French leaders
will present successes in their industry, led
by Bruno Cathelinais, president of
the Management Board for Bénéteau
Group, who will discuss
his company, and Jean Francois Fountaine,
CEO of the Fountaine-Pajot, who will
discuss how far the sailing multihull market
will go. Oliver Bovyn and Philippe
Delhay, from the French Sailing
Federation, will discuss 450 sailing
schools on the coast and waterways. Journalist
and writer Daniel Charles will review
the major role of culture for a dynamic development
of sailing.
In the afternoon session, Nicholas
Hayes, will present, “Rescuing
the Life Pastime-Why Americans Should Go
Sailing.” Tim Coventry and Luissa
Smith of ISAF will review success
in promoting sailing in other countries,
in their presentation, “Connect to
Sailing.” Jack Griffin, will
discuss “Building a Successful ‘Passion
Brand’ for Sailing,” while Seiko
International Marketing Director Rob
Wilson will present success stories
from other sports.
The ISS will conclude with a gala dinner featuring
keynote speakers America’s Cup
veteran Bruno Troublé, who
will provide an update on the America’s
Cup, yacht designer
Ron Holland, with a presentation on
the “Ethereal” project and
ISS Patron Gérard Petipas, founder of
the Pen Duick company. There will
also be a screening of the movie ‘Tabarly’ by Pierre
Marcel.
