PATTY LAWRENCE APPOINTED BOAT SHOW SEMINAR SERIES COORDINATOR FOR SAIL AMERICA
Sail America Executive Director Jonathan Banks recently announced the appointment of Patty Lawrence as boat show seminar coordinator. In this new part-time capacity, she will coordinate and execute all aspects of the association’s boat show seminar program.
“I hope to build upon the success of the current seminar series and increase consumer interest and participation in the boat shows,” she said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the current presenters and expanding the topic line-up.”
Lawrence has served the past three years on the US SAILING’s board of directors and co-chaired the One Design-Sailing Symposium. She is also past president of the Thistle Class Association and current secretary treasurer. Professionally, she is a freelance writer and former college instructor.
Lawrence grew up sailing and cruising on Lake Erie with her family and was a member of her collegiate sailing team where she met her husband. Within days of graduation, they purchased a Thistle and have since spent many years racing. Her two daughters are now readying for Opti sailing, a fact that underscores her passion for the sport and lifestyle.
“One of my favorite things about sailing is that it allows everyone in the family to participate,” she says.
