SAILING INDUSTRY CONFERENCE EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

Some 170+ members of the sailing industry gathered the end of June for an action-packed bi-annual Sailing Industry Conference in Newport, RI, themed From Survive - To Thrive. Featuring a mix of outstanding speakers, a highly competitive industry regatta, many opportunities to connect with industry leaders, plus a sneak peek of the America's Cup Village and practice races, the event was deemed a great success by all who attended.
The conference's keynote speaker and leading authority in strategic thinking, John Spence, offered a thought-provoking presentation on Business Excellence-Running and Sustaining a Highly Successful Organization. In addition, multiple break-out sessions were held with an open forum format, including the Australian Perspective On Sailing that included details on market research on the sailing industry conducted in Australia; B&G University that discussed trends in sailing electronics; and the Grow Sailing Workshop. Additional sessions included Digital Marketing - Understanding The Opportunities and Taking Action; Remarkable Time Management: 7 Steps To More Time For You!; Hands On Training and Education: An Effective Marketing Tool For A Complete Environment; Feedback: The Fuel For The Future; Reinventing Your Organization: How To Change Culture; and Why Branding Matters.

"The 2012 Sailing Industry Conference was designed to help everyone who participated in this year's event thrive in the today's economy," said Sail America President Josh Adams. "Based on the feedback we received from the record number of people that attended, our program really hit the mark. All of the breakout sessions and presentations were a tremendous success and the addition of the Grow Sailing workshop gave all attendees the opportunity to share their ideas for growing the sailing market."
