Experience Sailing
Sail America has partnered with SailTime to launch the Experience Sailing program (formerly Discover Sailing), a hands-on, entry-level sailing experience designed to introduce new participants to the sport in a simple, approachable way.
This program is a strategic initiative to grow participation in sailing and create a pipeline of future customers for Sail America members. Engaging first-time sailors in a positive, well-structured experience helps build long-term interest in sailing, boating products, and related services.

Program Outline
Each session is structured to provide a comfortable and engaging first experience:
● 30-minute introductory classroom session covering the basics of sailing
● 60-90 minute on-the-water experience led by an experienced captain
● Small group format (maximum of six participants per boat) to ensure a personal, hands-on experience
Participants must be age 13 or older, and a signed waiver is required. Sessions are offered three or up to four times daily during each event!
Newport Beach International Boat Show
Sail America as seen strong results already with three sold-out Experience Sailing programs at CHIBS, NBIBS, and WCBYS. Delivered in partnership with SailTime and supported by fellow members American Sailing, Yanmar, and Spinlock, the programs introduced more than 230 participants to sailing! Collaborative, high-impact activations like this highlight the value of Sail America membership. We’re looking forward to building on this success and bringing the program to more boat shows in 2027.
